This is IMHO the nicest, the most elegant Memovox ever made!I had the opportunity to get one for some days, and to take some pics to share with you all. And, although I already knew that I loved it, now I know that I need it!The Memovox ref E 855, is IMHO a timeless watch, and with the black dial and these thin and long embossed indexes, this version is just gorgeous.Look at these curves, at these proportions and volumes,
Did you notice the slightly domed plexy, which enhances the ch

F.P.Journe Chronomètre Souverain article from GMT Magazine (from:F.P. Journe)
F.P.Journe Chronomètre Souverain By Christophe Persoz
There's no doubt about the watch tested for this edition — it's in the major league. The Chronomètre Souverain by François-Paul Journe is certainly among the great classics of Geneva watchmaking. It doesn't look like a gasworks and there's no flashy yet useless complication to distract attention from any deficiency.
Exterior: I have had the frequent opportunity to test watches for this column with ca

If you don't have hIGH speed load up, this is one post worth the wait for the pics below!
There are very few dials abd work that is THIS good...at any price.

Vanishing Point: Day and Night at the Richard Mille Le Mans Classic (from:Richard Mille)
About a month after the famous Le Mans 24 hour endurance race, every two years, the Le Mans Classic takes place on the same circuit. With cars from every decade over which the race has been run, the Le Mans Classic is a celebration of racing machines from yesteryear; from the start of the famous race, to more recent times. Any one with an interest in motor racing, and the cars that made such races great, should really look to attend the event. It really is a 'petrol-head's' dream race.

Romain Gauthier - Collection Prestige (from:Horological Meandering)
After a nine month wait, my Romain Gauthier Collection Prestige finally arrived, hand delivered by Romain Gauthier himself (not sure why he couldn't just give me a discount and send it via FedEx).
As many of you are familiar, Romain’s Collection Prestige comes in four “flavours” – two in rose gold, one in white gold and one in platinum.
I selected the rose gold with champagne dial primarily for the gilt frost finishing that Romain applies to thi

Visit to AP Clearwater (from:Horological Meandering)
week or so ago, my wife and I had the good fortune to be given a tour of the AP Service Center in Clearwater, FL, by the Director, Gilles Vincent. An enthusiastic and charming man, he gave me permission to post the photos I took. He would pose for a photograph only with me, but he didn't say anything about cropping myself out of the photo, which I've done:
After gaining entry (which even those delivering our watches for service are not permitted to do), one meets the Customer Service staff, who are th

Lending a Hand - How Heuer was saved by an arms dealer
By Su JiaXian
Before TAG, it was Heuer.
Founded by Edouard Heuer in 1860 at St. Imier, Heuer specialised in stopwatches and chronographs. The company made a significant contribution to horology with the invention of the oscillating pinion (also known as cam) in 1886, which replaced the more expensive column wheel and is the most prevalent type of mechanical chronograph today.

H.Moser & Cie - notes from an encounter! (from:AHCI)
I had the pleasure to meet Mr Daniel Zimmerman from Moser (Director sales & marketing) a couple of weeks ago in their London dealer's showroom. It was a fantastic opportunity to chat with him, hear a little about Moser and see some wonderful watches.
The first thing I noticed was that Daniel was wearing a platinum Henry with a lovely greyish ruthenium dial which he happily took off for me to look at. This watch definately looks much better in the metal than it does in pictures. The display back glass is b

Guy Ellia, does it ring a bell? (from:Horological Meandering)
According to a watch-executive, a few companies in the region have battled for 3 years vying for the distributorship of Guy Ellia.
Last month, Sincere Watch Limited (Singapore & Malaysia) got the distributorship for the brand, Guy Ellia.
Understand that Guy Ellia is very selective in choosing their retailers and he wants to maintain a certain positioning of status and prestige.
From his list of retailers, the focus is Middle East and Europe, including Greece and Russia. USA ha

The FIRST delivered Bulgari Calibro 303, Porsche Carrera GT and women (from:Horological Meandering)
OK..wow.
First off...I am overwhelmed with the actual production piece of the 303.
All pics seen so far were the "carmay" blank display. I took delivery on 10th July of my very own 303 at 430pm.
Joined a party to celebrate the arrival of the watch in Johore...with a celebratory ride in the Porsche Carrera GT to baptise the watch!!! With dust and fresh air!!
Here..the delivery of the watch...and the soundtrack of "Satisfaction" will best suit this..more..

An Evening With Stepan Sarpaneva (from:Horological Meandering)
Mr Sarpaneva dropped by Kuala Lumpur to host a dinner for the lucky enthusiasts who ordered pieces from him and also to share with us the story behind the Sarpaneva watches. The dinner was held at one of my favourite Japanese restaurants in KL, Hajime.Stepan Sarpaneva. His watches came in birch boxes made in Finland. Each box had a unique grain pattern and were very smooth to the touch. The cover was held closed with magnetic fixtures. The new owners slowly opening their boxes with great anticipation

Breguet La Tradition - an essay (from:Breguet)
Three years of planning, several visits to watch boutiques for a
'test drive', pleasant get-togethers with other owners and a lot of
thought and research and I finally have a yellow gold, manual wind La Tradition
7027BA/11/9V6 (Cal. 507DR) on my wrist. A watch that is now well known to you
and far from the 'new kid on the block', but I always take my time
making long term commitments and I enjoy the 'journey' as much as
the destination. While I can't add much to the photographic record on the L

The Three Laws of Robotics (from:Jaquet Droz)
"A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."
First presented by Issac Assimov in the short story "I,Robot" these three laws set definitive parameters for robot behavior since machines are devoid of m

Well, not mine, as I'm waiting for the platinum version which will be delivered further...For the moment, Rose Gold are the first, and a few will be delivered to some few ADs.But the important thing is to know that they are arrived, isn't it?And to examine them very carefully, as I did, to make our mind about the level of finish of this so expected watch.I saw several times the protos, in the 3 metals, I always loved this piece, but let me tell you that the level of finish, the feeling of high quality is i

The new Daniel Roth 8-Day Tourbillon with Perpetual Calendar (from:Daniel Roth)
One of Daniel Roth’s signature models is its 8-Day tourbillon, which is designed and manufactured in-house.
Daniel Roth’s simplest perpetual calendar model, if it can be called that, is the perpetual calendar with moon phase, shown below; the other Daniel Roth perpetual calendars have added complications like equation of time, stopwatch or tourbillon.
This year Daniel Roth has combined both the 8-Day tourbillon and the perpetual calendar to create a un

Progress through Standstill: the CABARET TOURBILLON
The tourbillon was invented more than 200 years ago. It has lost none of its fascination since then. A. Lange & Söhne has just written a new chapter in the history of the "whirlwind" with the new CABARET TOURBILLON and the first stop-seconds feature ever implemented in a tourbillon calibre.
In 1997, the CABARET amazed the world with its elegant rectangular shape that evoked the luxury, charisma, and perfection of the Art Deco epoch. Eleven y
