Finally found my Grail Fifty Fathoms Milspec 1

Oct 30, 2015,12:51 PM

Hello fellow watch purists,

I just wanted to share some pictures of one of my latest acquisitions. It is a Fifty Fathoms Milspec 1 Pakistani from about 1968. I fell in love with early Fifty Fathoms after the introduction of the current FF in 2008. That's when the search for one began. Recently, the opportunity presented itself and I pulled the trigger. The case appears to be in original unpolished and is in great condition. It has sharp edges and a matte finish. The crown does have a ding to it. The glossy dial on the watch is perfect condition. The bezel insert is in good condition but does have a hairline crack. This appears to be common with vintage Fifty Fathoms. I was even able to locate an original NOS tropical band, that from my research came with this model.

One very interesting thing to note is the serial number, 208051. Brian'sNOS Fifty Fathom Pakistani has a serial number of 208036 which means my watch was made only 15 watches after his. How cool!

Thanks for reading!

Best,
Adam

It is not a Pakistani, but it is a very nice civilian one. Huge congratulations.

You have a Civilian Milsec or a Demo. Great watch and its probably my favorite Blancpain to wear. The mat case and the cream lume are just perfect! Your apollo strap make it look original. There are only probably 20 known Demo's making it super rare. Enjo...

Very interesting

Thank you Nicolas and Brian! I have always enjoyed following all of your posts. Brian, I find what you say very interesting about this watch. Can you tell me more about what makes this watch a demo? I have never heard of such a thing. How would that diffe...

Your watch was originally called the civilian milspec. About 3-4 years ago there was an old Tornek advertisement found showing the civilian milspec. There was a small write up by Tornek describing the watch was used by military and they called it the demo...
