Great report! ...good to see another beautiful moon phase in the Brequet collection.
Would be amazing to see men's version in the future! ( With some of that majestic presence of heritage tourbillon...)

Baselworld 2012: Breguet Report

 By: foversta : March 18th, 2012-09:05
A visit at the Breguet booth is a must-do for me at the Baselworld Fair. Year after year, it makes me understand the strategy of Swatch Group with its most prestigious brand and I can feel now the strong ambition behind. Several years ago, I had some diff...

The 7727

 By: CaliforniaJed : March 18th, 2012-11:02
is the one I want to see. Do you know the case size, FX? I am glad to hear they will remove the 10HZ from the dial, at least in it's present color/font. Like you, I hope it comes off completely. But for that, the watch looks to be a winner -- a marriage o...

Case diameter is 41mm Jed.

Thanks for your comments! Fx

The 7727 is interesting in its conception, indeed.

But I would have expected a cleaner dial... I didn't even speak of the Red 10 Hertz which reminds me the back of a Peugeot 205 GTI. It was coherent with the look of a small sports car, it is not coherent with a dressy watch. Moreover, I would have preferr...

Vlad, it's not the execution that leaves you cold...

...it's your vampire blood! I completely agree about the Red 10HZ, though I have no idea what the back or front of a Peugeot 205GTI looks like! Surely that will come off? I like the dial itself, though, particularly the 10hz subdial (if it can be called t...

That, too. Here is what I found on the net ( sorry for the credit )

Do you see the Red 10 Hertz and the side and the back side? Best, Nicolas...

Got it! [nt]

No message body

Red 10hz will be changed.

 By: foversta : March 18th, 2012-11:34
And it was so obvious to find it ugly that all of us thought that Breguet did it knowingly to give a highlight on the watch or especially for the displays. Final version will be different. About Power Reserve Indicator, I find it useful here: first of all...

Sorry, but I don't see the power reserve so appropriate on a Chronometer.

 By: amanico : March 18th, 2012-11:59
A Torquemeter would be more useful, if you want to check the regularity of the torque suring the work of the movement, but a power reserve? Did you often see a power reserve on most of the Chronometers? ( Ok, there is a Lange RL with a power reserve, but ...

Torque & Power Reserve

 By: foversta : March 18th, 2012-12:51
The watch has 60 hours of power reserve. So it is not mandatory to wind it every day. For a better accuracy, power reserve indicator will tell if the watch has worked for more than one day. I've never met a watch which works better after one day than duri...

Shame they felt the need to add 10hz in red on the dial...

As its a beautiful piece otherwise

As I said to Nicolas...

 By: foversta : March 18th, 2012-14:05
expect some changes on the dial of the final version. Can't wait to discover it BTW. Thanks imran! Fx

Things are looking up a bit at Breguet

 By: aaronm : March 18th, 2012-17:53
Drop the red bit, as they seem to be doing, and i love the 10hz model. The power-reserve may be oddly assymetric, but it is entirely in keeping with AL Breguet's designs, same with the seconds-at-12 o'clock. I don't love the weird cut-through for the top ...

Thanks Aaron for your comments.

I think that I share a large part of your comments. Fx

Thank you

for that detailed report! You wouldn't have any unpublished photos of the modest 5140? Best T

The 5140 ?

 By: foversta : March 19th, 2012-14:42
Ah Tobias, I have very old pics of the 5140... but I can publish them again if you wish it. Thanks for your words! Fx

that would be great

not sure if I have seen them already - it is a perfectly simple and perfectly beautiful gold watch in my view

I am impressed by this 10Hz movement.

 By: ling5hk : March 19th, 2012-02:13
Currently, it should be the fastest frequency movement. Any idea that the accuracy of the watch is significantly enhanced? Does it mean that the regulator is "oil-free"? Thank you Xavier. Regards Ling

Thanks Xavier for the beautiful report - i like to see Breguet being on the forefront of watchmaking technololgy - that's exactly where Breguet belongs. I guess Mr. Hayek senior had the grand plan for Breguet neatly in his mind... 7727 is certainly the mo...

Reveil Musical

Xavier, i just finished reading the article on the Reveil Musical in the "Quai de L'Horolge" magazine. I must say that i am fascinated by the concept of the Reveil Musical - i am very fond of the warm sound of music boxes. .I was wondering whether you had...
