Pictures & Sounds of Breguet 2009 Collection

Jul 31, 2009,09:59 AM

The 2009 collection has already been discussed; complement with some pictures and sound files
(for the Classique
Minute repeater Grande Complication 7637
and the Marine Royale 5847)
for your viewing and listening pleasure.

Enjoy!

Tradition 7027 design in  two-color version ...

(Note: Pictures were taken in a yellow tungsten environment, thus the case colour may differ)

White gold case with anthracite grey surface treatment on the movement done by electroplating technique with
an alloy of precious metals of the platinum family darker in hue than the ruthenium.

The anthracite surface with white gold and black dial provides good  visual contrast and at the same time
inject a bit of fresh contemporary feel to a traditional design.

Black electroplated 18K gold guilloché dial with the hallmarked  crescent moon Breguet-hands in polished steel.

The “Pare-chute” (in hand-beveled steel), possibly the ancestor of modern Incabloc and other shock-protection components.

Breguet Overcoil hairspring

The back view of the 50-hour power reserve, 3 Hz  Calibre 507DR ...

secured to the caseband with 3 blued screws.

with a secondary power reserve indicator ...

Next  is another variation in pink gold case and original rose gold plate...

Comparing both Traditions, I prefer the white gold case with the anthracite surface finished.

How about you?

Classique 7337 ~ Date, moon phases and running seconds

The asymmetrical  39mm diameter 7337 with off-centre hour ring and the small second located at 5'o clock position.

Breguet secret signatures symmetrically on the hour ring...

Beautifully guilloché dial with various patterns.

The gold deployant buckle

The extra-thin Breguet caliber 502 fitted with an auxiliary plate, the calibre for this Ref. 7337 is Cal.502.3 QSE1.
The decorated rotor is of 18K gold.

The main-spring which provides 45-hour power reserve.

Classique Grande Complication 7637 ~ Minute repeater

42mm diameter 18K pink gold case...

Enjoy the beautifully guilloché dial .... try counting how many different engraved patterns! smile

The blued hands just stand out beautifully on this light dial without stealing the limelight of the guilloché patterns.

I counted 6 patterns, one pattern lesser than "Le Réveil du Tsar".

According to Breguet specifications, some work was done to achieve the crystal clear sound :

"In 2008, Breguet came out with a new way of designing these technological marvels, fitting them
with an entirely re-engineered movement incorporating new materials and featuring innovative positions
for the gongs, gong rests and hammers. This patented technique is now in
service on Breguet minute repeater no. 7637."

With a slide of the above 'ON-OFF' push-piece, the soothing chimes played ....

(click the 'PLAY' button below to hear the 7637)

The well-decorated movement ...

Please note the golden band surrounding the movement which looked like secured to the gold casing ....
I guessed this could be part of the assembly of the gong.

The super-polished (black-polish) hammers pivoted onto the jewels....

A closer view ...

Observe part of the gold-band was cut-away between the stud of the gold-band and the balance cock.

A closer view ....

More pictures of the craftmanship ...

The 18K gold deployant buckle for Ref .7637 .

Marine Royale 5847 ~ alarm water-resistant to 300 m

45mm case with engine-turned  wave-pattern dial.

Alarm power-reserve indication in an aperture between 9 and 11 o'clock.

Alarm on/off indicator in a round aperture at 12 o'clock.

The magnifier ...

Both hands together ...

The bezel’s unidirectional rotation is secured by a blocking pawl
(located between the two winding crowns on the case flank and shaped like a wave)

Screw-locked crowns.

Alarm setting pushpiece at 4 o'clock sheathed in black rubber.

Rubber-covered alarm on/off pushpiece at 8 o'clock.

A logical statement extracted  from the specifications:

"Underwater tests confirm that sound travels better through water than through air.
Sound waves require material support and their speed increases with the density of the environment.
Sound travels about four times faster under than above water.
Furthermore, as the underwater milieu is generally far less noisy
than the aerial one, the alarm’s sound is perceived with greater clarity underwater."

(click the 'PLAY' button below to hear the 5847)

Cal. 519R beating at 4Hz and with  a 45-hour power-reserve.
Engine-turned 18K gold rotor shaped like a shell or fibonnaci spiral.

The alarm hammer (on top right-hand corner)

Classique 5967

The 41mm Ref. 5967 with a newly developed guilloché pattern - Art Deco Damier.

Interesting 3D effect  from the Art Deco Damier pattern.

Fitted with the manual wound pocket watch Frederic Piguet Cal. 506.2  movement.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures and the sounds.

Kong

1...2...3...4, 4! 4 different balance wheels

I was noticing that they have updated the F. Piguet in the 7337 to be the same as the Tradition, meaning the movement appears now to be free-sprung. The Marine has a different free-spring design, smaller to compensate for faster beat (4hz)? And both the F...

Congratulations and thank you for the outstanding pictures, and of course the sound files. While i am not a specialist on minute repeaters, it seems to me that the sound of the 7637 is rather metallic and less pleasing than other repaeters. Just my opinio...

Brilliant pics, indeed!

I didn't see the New Traditions in the flesh, and I would specially like to see the WG Case Ruthenium dial combo. This is an intriguant watch, and, as you perfectly said, the ruthenium gives an interesting touch of modernity to this watch. Will it work in...

Great post, I really appreciated the audio clips of the Breguet minute repeater and alarm watch. I'm particularly surprised with the loud volume of this particular minute repeater, as the previous Breguet minute repeater I listened to was very quiet (case...

I agree with you, Kong.

Like Nicolas’ JLC MMR in titanium, the white gold case / anthracite surface seem to give the Tradition a more “mechanical” look and feel – I prefer it too. Thank you for the superb pictures and the amazing sound files! Marcelo

What a superb.....
